Geotextiles, sometimes referred to as filter cloth or geofabric, are goods used primarily in environmental and civil construction for soil separation and filtering. In civil construction, geotextiles help filter surface water to stop stones and soil particles from passing through and migrating into the sub-base, as well as preventing the intermixing of sub-base soils with granular layers. They serve as a cushion beneath or above geomembrane liners in environmental applications to reduce the possibility of punctures from coarse aggregate rock.
